Skibbereen Regatta (15 April, 2012)
Following a tough days racing the day before the schools crews put in another fine performance again winning the Junior 18 coxed four, this time with Jack Healy replacing Brian Keohane who was selected in the J16 crews. The Junior 15 quad of Andrew McCarthy, Sean O’ Connell, Thomas Cregan and Seamus Sweeney continued to impress with another fine display to finish second.
National Schools Regatta (14 April, 2012) – Pres win J18 Coxed Four title
The school had a very successful outing at this year’s National Schools regatta winning the Junior 18 coxed four. The crew of Colm Keena, Kevin Keohane, Niall Crowley, Brian Keohane and David Twomey successfully defended the title which was won for the first time by the school at last year’s event. They put in a commanding performance to finish a comfortable three lengths ahead of The Bish from Galway. There was also a number of excellent performances from the J18 eight and pair and the Junior 15 quad how all finished second in their respective events.
Pres win the double at Galway Head of the River (10 March, 2012)
This winters ‘Head of the river’ season has proved to be one of the most successful for the Cork City schools rowing crews. The school has picked up impressive wins at Muckross, Cork, Limerick and most recently Galway heads of the river respectively. A total of thirteen pennants have been achieved this season.
There has been wins across all grades from Junior 15, Junior 16 and to the most impressive wins coming at Junior 18 level. The Junior 18 squad have been unbeaten in the coxed four and coxless boats since the 10 December culminating in an impressive double win in Galway Head on 10 March which saw them beat the fancied ‘Bish’ school club on their home waters in the four and then complete the double by beating Carlow Rowing Club in the Coxless Quad.
